The Waiting Rooms has finally opened after a huge wait. Set in the former home of The Long Bar, on Westgate Road, this venue has found a new lease of life (literally).

The Waiting Rooms exterior

The transformation is impressive; a bright, light and airy décor has replaced the old and dark interior of the previous bar. Whilst still dedicated to its usual customers, the new owners are hoping to attract a wider crowd with a brand-new outdoor area, brimming with planters full of lush greenery. The type of beer garden you dream of in summer (and winter).

You’ll have plenty of space for drinking – and eating, for the first time ever – in The Waiting Rooms. Coffee and cake will be served from 11am, but the biggest news is the pies… The Waiting Rooms is the host of the first Pieminister franchise, north of Leeds. The pie and mash dishes are made using only the finest ingredients – 100% British and 100% free range. They’ve also won numerous prizes at the Great Taste Awards and British Pie Awards, so you’re onto a winner…

Customers can buy cask ales, craft beers, lagers and ciders by the barrel, due to the ever-changing rota on tap. You can sample the likes of Monkey 47 with your pie. Furthermore, if spirits are your thing, the owners have carefully selected the best rums available.

A DJ will take to the stage on Saturday night, and they’re looking to put on live music alternating Fridays and Saturdays. This is the next big thing to come all the way to Newcastle. And, if you need to update your status – there’s a ‘hot desk’ area upstairs to tap into the WiFi and even take your laptops. Basically, we’ll see you at The Waiting Rooms.
